  • About Freeads
    How does Freeads work?
    Freeads is very easy to use and a great way to advertise for Free. Simply register for a free account and start reaching the people of your island today.
    You may enter as little or as much information about yourself - it's up to you!
    The minimum requirement for open a freeads account is a username and an email address.
    Once you have entered these you will be sent a password to the email address provided which you can use to initially log in. You may change this password to something more memorable once you have logged into your account.

    For certain advertisements you may wish to add more details about yourself, your address or a contact number. This can be done from you user account at anytime.
    Note:Please read question below 'What info is shown about me?' for details of what other users may see about you. This only applies if you enter the information in the first place which you're not obliged to do.
    What information is shown about me?
    To register for a freeads account you only need to choose a 'Username' and enter your email address. Your email address is kept private and not shown on the site or given to anyone else unless you choose to display it in your own advertisement.
    By using the 'Search' > Search Users facility on this site the following details about you are viewable by non-registered users (ONLY if you choose to enter them):
    Username | Ads by this user (your ads).
    These details are visible to registered users (ONLY if you choose to enter them):
    Username | First Name | Last Name | About Me | House Number | Street Address | Town | Post Code | Age | Pictures.
    To prevent SPAM/unsolicited emails we do not show your email address to anyone.
    If someone needs to contact you with regards to your ad - this is done using our on-site contact form or phone number you provide.
    How much does it cost to place a Freead?
    Placing a basic Freead is free. Your Freead will run for 30 days, and will cost you nothing.
    If you would like your Freead to really stand out we have a number of Freeads you can choose to pay for, but a basic Freead is free.
    How do I place a Freead?
    This can be done in 2 ways - You may either click on the category then sub-category you want to place your ad in and click 'Submit ad' which will place it in this sub-category or alternatively you can just click the 'Submit ad' button at the top of any page and choose your sub-category from a pull-down menu.
    How many Freeads can I list?
    You may list as many Freeads as you like. Do not list the same ad multiple times as this may result in a blocking of your account.
    How long does my Freead last?
    Most Freeads run for 30 days from the date it has been approved. After this time you will be notified by email that it is due to expire, whereby you may log in and renew the ad again for another 30 days absolutely Free. You may do this up to 5 times.
    When will my Freead show?
    Your Freead will show once it has been approved by us
  • Managing Your Freeads
    Can I check, upgrade, delete or modify my Freeads?
    If you wish to check, upgrade, remove or modify any your Freeads at any time you can do this by logging into your user account area. A list of all your Freeads are kept here.
    Why can't I log in?
    If you are having problems logging in to your Freeads account please check that you have entered the correct user name and password. If you have forgot your password you may request a new one from the log in screen, just enter your email address.
    How can I add pictures?
    You may add a certain amount of pictures to each ad (amount depends on category) by using the 'browse' button on the 'Submit ad' page. You must make sure your pictures are no larger than 640 pixels x 480 pixels otherwise the image will not upload.
    I've sold my item! How do I remove the it?
    Simply log into your account, locate the ad and click the delete link.
  • Managing Your Details
    How can I update my email address, phone number or other details?
    You can update any of your personal details (except email address - see question below) by simply logging into your user area and changing them. Changes made here take immediate effect.
    How do I change my email address?
    Unfortunately it is not possible for users to change their own email address as this is serves as the base for communication between the system and the user. This ensures during registration that firstly - your email address is unique (no one else has been registered yet with it) and secondly - that it is valid.
    If it wasn't unique, notifications sent to one user could go to more users, and if it wasn't valid, users wouldn't get the notification at all. If we let the users change their email address after registration, the whole initial validity and uniqueness check should be repeated.
    If you would like to change your email address there are 2 options:
    1. Open/Register for a new freeads account with your new email address - in which case you will no longer have access to any previous ads listed in your old user account (old email).
    2. Email admin and ask for your email address to be updated - in which case you will have to provide any further details we hold against your old email address for example username or past ads you may have listed.
    What if I forget my password?
    Simply request a new one from the log in page.
    I'v registered or requested a new password and haven't received anything!
    If you've registered for a new account or asked for a new password but the email hasn't arrived, make sure you have set your email client to be able to accept emails from us and check that the email has not gone into your Junk or Spam folder.
    How can I change my password?
    You may change your password at any time by logging into your user area. It is also recommended to change the temporary inititial password we send out to you at registration or after a request for a new one.
  • Dealing with Enquiries
    How do people respond to my ad or contact me?
    There are several different ways a person can respond to your ad. They can contact you via your phone number if you have provided one, visit your address if you have provided one or use our built in contact form on this site which, will send a message to the email address you provided at registration or update at a later date. Note:Please ensure you have your up-to-date current email address on file with us for this facility to work. Messages sent to invalid email address will bounce back to our system and any account asssociated with this non-working email address will be deleted.
